  A couple of things.
1- Is the rear spring on the 40 convertible 10 leafs?
2- How does the battery hold down work on the 40? Does anyone have pic's. The 40 restoration book doesn't show well.
Thanks, Dennis

The rear spring is 10 leaves with covers on it.

The battery hold down on the 40 bolts to the firewall to clamp the back of the battery down. There is one bolt on the engine side and a nut with a cup washer on the passenger side. There is a rubber cushion that fits between the battery and the clamp. The front of the battery is held by the lip of the battery fitted into the lip of the battery stand.

See the Attached photo from the 2009 Central National meet.

  Dennis,
Picture attached of a proper rear spring.

Please be aware that while the previous photo supplied by TomO depicts the correct battery hold down there are numerous (unrelated) discrepancies that should you (Dennis) be doing a top point restoration you will need to be aware of so as not to make the same mistakes.
By the way TomO... thanks much for teaching me how to post photos. I am by no means a computer savvy kind of guy
Respectfully,
Mike Kubarth
