Topic: 1935 Transmission disassembly

I have been taking apart a trans that appeasr to be 1935 vintage. I got it all apart except for removing second gear from the main shaft. There is some kind of tab in one of the grooves that is holding the thing on. It looks like there is some kind of retainer washer at the front that is held by the tab. I can push a pin in the hole in the gear and feel a spring detent but can't make anything happen after that. How does this thing come off ?

with the tool in the hole depress the spring but pressing too hard will allow the tool to lock things together, have to press a little lighter. Make sure the washer on the end has it's cut outs aligned with the shaft teeth.

Yahoo, boy you gotta hold your mouth just right. The guy that designed that had too much time on his hands. Thanks for the info
