Topic: 59AB Coolant System Flush

rbone    -- 01-15-2011 @ 4:11 PM
My 59AB (installed in a 34 Sedan) developed a slow coolant leak through the right side water pump hose. I got the old hoses off today and need to flush the system. I have new hoses, but was wondering if there is anything special I need to do to flush the coolant system. Also, is there a particular way to drain the coolant without having to remove the lower hoses?

Thanks in advance,
Ron

I've used the Prestone flush system many times on many cars and it seems to work well except on my 47 the spout that is to fit into the radiator fill to direct the exiting water doesn't fit tight like it does in modern radiators that are smaller fillers. But, that just means the water has to run onto the ground instead of into a hose to a bucket. Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/Prestone-AFKIT0-Universal-Flush-Fill/dp/B000CCFY5W
