Topic: 1950 Ford turn signals

In my efforts to restore my 1950 Ford I found that the rear turn signal wire was routed under the floor carpet to the rear lights. It seems that this location would be subject to damage and wear of the wire insulation cover. I am hoping to fish this wire to the rear with the other rear wire harness through and over the port-side door/roof panel. Has anyone tried to do this? Can it be done without removing the cloth interior roof panel?

I wouldn't try to fish it overhead, as it is likely that the webs and bow supports of the headliner would be affected. Many, if not most, newer cars run the rear wiring under the carpet into the trunk space. Usually it is routed under or near the kick plate area beneath the doors for protection, then up alongside the rear seat and through the trunk trim board. The thickness of the floormat and any jute lining should be sufficient to protect the wire. We occasionally substitute regular home carpet padding for the liner, giving extra protection to wires, etc.

Your turn signal wire is routed the way it came from the Factory. It should be under the edge of the left scuff plate. there is a wide edge on this scuff plate for the wire to go under. Proxie35
