Topic: body work quarter panel 1950

I'm restoring this 1950 tudor a previous owner had made it into a wannabe custom and had cut off the top strip of metal that overlaps the quarter panel seam.

What would be the best way to fix this so it looks correct? weld in a strip of metal? if i found inner quarter panels to weld in would this work? I just want it to look correct.
any ideas?

To correctly fit patch panels, the seam must be lapped, using a special tool to form a recess that accomodates the new piece. The welding should be "stitched" to lessen any heat warping. If done correctly, the seam should be invisible. It is a job best left to a competent body shop if you are new to the process.
