About the only "tuning" that can be achieved with the flathead is the timing adjustment on the distributor. The "new" gas is usually about 89 octane, so the advance slider may be set at full advance without causing pinging. The action of the vacuum "snubber" should be examined, and set by machine. In most cases, fully backing off this adjuster doesn't affect normal driving. Many of the complaints regarding alcohol laced gas comes from the solvency that ruins non-nitrile rubber parts in the carb and fuel pump, as well as stirring up debris in the tank.
