Thanks, I looked over the info refered to but still not sure. My heads have the numbers 59A 6050B. Can you tell what year they were mfg?

Usually, they are for '42-'48. I say "usually" because a lot of head swapping was done over the years, and the 59A-6050A was used from '38 until sometime in '42, then the "B' style was used and furnished as a replacement for all 24 stud dome piston engines. To my knowledge, there is no way to determine the exact year of manufacture, other than that period set out above.

Bob, you must have had too much new year party. 59 blocks and heads were post war only. 81A for '38 & '39, A for '40-42. Pair of 40's, the number 6050 is the part number only. If you shine a bright light at the engine bell below the dash, you will likely see a large cast 59. Look at Van Pelt's website for specs of your engine. Alan

No, Alan, I'm still standing. What I was saying, if not too clearly, is that the 59A & B heads were furnished as "service replacements", not as original equipment, on the earlier 24 stud engines, and can be found on many engines, particularly the "authorized" rebuilts. I agree on the cast block numbers, but the question was about heads.
