Hey guys. I was just reading with interest about the lock cyl. on a 40 steering column. I just changed one and it was fairly simple for me. I started with a #36 drill bit well into the locking pin then tapped it with a 6/32 tap and inserted a fairly long bolt with a good head. Took a claw hammer, hooked the claws over the bolt and tapped it gently with another hammer. Not quite enough so I went up to a #29 drill and 8/32 tap and a larger bolt and it took a bit of doing but it finally pulled out. I tapped the locking pin hole 1/4 28 and used a socket head allen screw to secure the new cyl in place. Worked well for me. Hope it might help someone else. Bob
