34 has 12v system with Bendix electric fuel pump 5 to 9 lb pressure ? should I stay with it when installing a 59AB engine or go with manual pump on 59AB also should I use a restrictor to lower pressure to 3 1/2 lbs. if I stay with electric pump

It depends. If your going to use the 97 carb. vintage speed sells new floats that can accept the higher fuel pressure. if your not going to use the new float then a pressure regulator (not a restrictor) is necessary. 3 1/2# is the top end, 1 1/2 is the low, maybe more like 2#. If you don`t want to go this route then go to a mechanical pump, they have worked well for eons.

I'd go with the stock mechanical pump, and use the electric for priming only after a long period of sitting to reduce cranking time. Anything over 3-4 lbs fuel pressure will overwhelm the float needle. I don't like fuel pressure regulators. They tend to be erratic.
