What is the story on inside and outside mounted hubs? Don't see anything on it mentioned in the 41'48 Ford Book. On my '48 tudor have "inners" on the rear and "outers" in front. How did they come from the factory? Is one style considered better than the other?

For those who don't know what we are talking about, it refers to mounting of the brake drums. Some went over the hubs (outside) while others fit inside. The outside drum is the 21A type, the other, inside, is 51A. Both types seem to have been used between 40-48. Both require replacement and swedging of the studs to change drums. I doubt that either is superior to the other, but switching from the inside mount to the outside usually requires replacing the hub, too.
