Topic: 1948 Super Deluxe Hood Ornament

In the process of stripping the hood of my 48 Woodie, I noticed that there was never a hole for the "Super Deluxe" medallion on the hood. Is this unusual? Car was an early 48 (#146 out of Iron Mt.) Also, radio antenna is located on the passenger side of the cowl with two mounting bolts that are circular - not on top and not with the "tombstone" antenna mount. Are these simply the normal "line adjustments" by accountants.

Apparently, you have a "bull nose" hood. Some were made that way in the late 40's. Order a copy of the Club's excellent '41-'48 book and you will learn of lots of the unique things that happened in those years. First WWII, then the almost panic to produce postwar cars in the face of huge demand. As for radio antennas, almost all were installed at the dealer, so there are lots of different types. My '47 has the usual mount on the passenger side of the cowl top, but plenty were put on the side of the cowl with the two insulators.

many thanks! We'll chalk this one up under the same category of production variances...Still goes on in the auto industry.
