Is there any reason why the split valve guide seals, o-rings, should be used only on the intake valve guides and not the exhaust valve guides? Is there any harm in not using the seals on the exhaust guides?

The purpose of the seals on the intakes is to prevent oil from being sucked around the guide by the intake vacuum. The exhaust valves handle pressure, instead, and any blow by is removed by the crankcase vent. We usually install straight valves and one piece guides, along with adjustable lifters. In the process we machine an additional seal groove in the guide to double the barrier.
