I would like to install 14 or 15" rims on my coupe, what make and model rims will fit my stock lug pattern?

1946 thru 1948 Mercury 15 inch wheels will fit your bolt pattern and your 40 hubcaps will snap on just as they did on the 16 inch wheels. Also 1949 thru 53 Mercury wheels will fit your bolt pattern but your 40 hubcaps will not fit on them . You can buy wheels of differnt widths from Coker tire Co. and other suppliers. Tom

Wheel Vintiques offers new 15" wheels for your 40. They have the correct bolt pattern and will accept the 40 hubcaps. If you are running radial tires their rims have the safety bead. I'm not sure ,but I think you may also be able to get new 16" rims also with the safety bead for radials. I would avoid the 14" wheels as you are limited in your choice of tires.

The Ford F100 wheels from '57 to '66 have 15" 5 0n 5.5" bolt pattern and inside knobs for the hubcaps, your '40 caps will snap right on.
Most of the '57-66 pk up wheels will be 15" x 6.5" however some of them can be 16" from an early Ford and/or original equipment 16" which was an option through '66.
Measure the wheels before you buy them, many people are not aware of the wheel variations that can be found on one vehicle.
Generally speaking... if the wheels have pin stripping they are early narrow wheels, truck wheels were generally not stripped.
