Topic: 36 Ford Rumble Seat

I am in the process of restoring a 1936 Ford coupe with a rumble seat. When I bought the car, the rumble seat cushions were simply tossed into the space. I have since determined that there are two brackets on the rumble seat lid that, in conjunction with the sheet metal screw brackets fastened to the rumble seat back hold the rumble seat back onto the rumble seat lid.

My question is, how/or is the rumble seat base mounted? Is it secured to the floor or does it merely sit on the floor "loose"?

  tennsmith-

There are two fingers on the water dam that hold down the back of the lower seat and two pins in the floor pan which hold down the front.

Hope this helps.

Good grief I've been wondering how to control runoff in my rumble seat; now I see the water dam is missing!

Thanks for the photo. If you have any others of the water dam, please post so I can re-create one correctly.

on the deck lid there are two "D" nuts fitted on the bottom of the lid for the seat back attachment. No need for sheet metal screws.
