Topic: 40 Ford front seat removal

  Hi Guys,

I thought removing the front seat on my 2Dr sedan was going to be a snap. I can see the bolts going to the chassis but am having difficulty getting access to them. I tried prying the lower seat side panels away to get a clear shot at the bolt heads but no luck.... same with the lower rear panel. Has anyone done this ? I don't want to break something by mistake.

Thanks for any help.

Moving the seat forward as far as it will go will raise it a bit and offer just a tad more room for your arm and hand. Other than that, it's like you are finding it to be ... kind of difficult to get at the bolts.
Once you are able to crack them loose with a six point box wrench, you can get a 1/4" drive ratchet in there and turn them out.
I am not certain of the condition of your car so I might suggest that you inspect the caged square nuts in the frame braces to be certain they are not rusted. If the nuts start turning within the cages, well, you know...another pain in the bu-- to deal with.
Other than that, there are no 'tricks' to this.

Kubes, Pulling the seat up does give a little more room to work. There's also a 9/16" nut on either side of the upper front seat frame, once detached lets you pull the front up for better access to the rear bolts.

Thanks.
