Topic: '37-38 brake springs

I'm in the middle of installing floaters on my '38 coupe. I was waiting on a set of '39-type upper springs from Mac's to replace the original two small springs with a single spring when I noticed some NOS lower springs on eBay. I bought a set of each to replace my old ones. When they arrived, I noticed that while the new orange primary springs were the same as my old ones, the new green secondary shoe springs were bigger than my old green ones. My old springs, while different colors, were all of similar size, about 1/2" diameter coils. The coils of the new green springs measure about 9/16" and the wire is a heavier gauge also.

So, I'm wondering if the new springs I got are correct or if I should just re-install my old springs.

As always, all advice is appreciated!

Tim

78-2035-A spring should look like this, it is 4.87" long. a minor difference in diameter or wire thickness will not be a problem. This spring went through some changes by the late 40s it was 78-2035-D

  Yup, those are the ones.

I'll go ahead and use the new springs.

Thank you for your reply.
