Topic: 1942 FORD 1946-47-48 FORD MERCURY RADIO

  -Wanted to know if the 1942 46 47 48 FORD RADIOS are all the same,or if there are differences,
I pickup a foot control radio ZENITH RADIO.complete,has a PM speaker, and foot push button,that gets floor mounted,
and are the MERCURY'S the same as FORD ?

any body have a picture of one out of the car ?
and can post it here ?

  For the 42 Ford there were two radios, one with a chrome plated face and a later one with a plastic face. For 46 through 48 Fords there was a very different radio. Only the 42s and the early 46s had the foot control.

For pictures you should get a copy of the 41-48 Ford Book

I can't tell you if the Mercuries used the same radios as the Fords.

  Here is the picture of the radio for the 46-48 Ford. I have it installed in my '47 including the foot switch.

  Here is the side view of the radio installed.
Note that the clearance for the speaker is very close. The top of the radio is actually cut out for the speaker magnet to fit. What this means is that modern speakers WILL NOT FIT. (I learned by sad experience.) You must have the original style with the very small magnet.

The illustration of the antenna is just one option. My antenna is on my cowl.
