Before I break something, I thought I'd consult the forum for hints on removing the steering box from the chassis of a '34 Ford. The arm that connects to the shaft from the steering box that goes through the frame does not want to come off. The nut and lock washer are off, but the arm doesn't want to come off the shaft.

The best I can understand your post, it sounds like you need a pitman arm puller. I bought mine at NAPA. They are not terribly expensive.
