Topic: 1938 Ford locking hood handle?

Did Ford offer a 1938 accessory locking hood handle as they did for the 37 year? Or did the engineers come up with another way to combat battery thefts? Never seen one if they did.

There was some info on an accessory locking handle on a post here a while back. It wasn't a "genuine" Ford handle, as I recall.

Like you, I've never seen a 38 locking handle. Ford did discourage battery thefts in 38 though,
by attaching a bracket to the rear side of the battery hold-down. There was a threaded capscrew equipped with a knob present on the inside of the firewall that had to be removed before you could
remove the hold-down. Of course this would have been effective only if you locked the doors!

Ford authorized locking hood handles were not offered in 1938. But they were available in various styles from several after-market companies for the 1937&1938 Fords. One company even offered a cable controlled hood lock accessible only from the dashboard. FORD DEALER & SERVICE FIELD magazines in 1937&1938 had ads on these products.
