When I took my car apart I didn't take notes as to how the glove box is assembled. Now it's time to put it back together and I can't figure out where the two stops go. If someone can explain it or post a picture it would be very helpful. Ted

Ted: Here's the diagram from the body parts book. It is for the '46 to '48. but is probably the same as your '42.

Thanks supereal for replying. I have that same diagram. what I am looking for is how the stops actually mount under the dashboard. Ted

Ted: The only "stop" I know of is the spring, #06068 in the diagram. It catches one of the arms on the door as the thing is opened.

I believe that the parts #6117 from the diagram are the stops. There are 2 and have a rubber coated end and the other end has a hole which is for each end hinge screw. The rubber portion installs so that when the glove box door is opened and rotates, the backside of the lower edge of the door comes up against this as a stop. The stop goes between the screw head and everything else. This looks very similar to the stops on my 1940s.

Deuce Yes 6117 is the stop and is as you described. After much puzzling I came to the same conclusion as to where they are mounted. Thanks for confirming my suspicion. Ted
