Topic: Torque tube front bush removal

I am trying to remove the front torque tube bearing sleeve P/N 4655 from a 1938 ford v8 to replace the grease seal. This is the solid type not split. The Ford V8 service manual says to use tool no A309. Is this correct for the solid type? Does anyone have a decent picture of this tool or any other details of a tool that is suitable for removing this bush. Regards Mark.

Mark: There were two special tools used to remove and install that sleeve. I am attaching a picture of them and a description of the procedure. These tools have long been obsolete, probably because replacing the sleeve, roller bearing, and seal was seldom done. The closet thing to a tool today is a slide hammer with gripping jaws. Most good machine shops have them, or something that will do the job. Note that there is more than one combination of sleeve and bearing.

the solid bushing 68-4655 and the seal B-4245 are removed with SV-245 at one time.

Thanks fella`s I think have now found a puller to do the job but it was interesting to see what the original tool looked like as well. Regards Mark.
