I am working on a what I believe is a 1934 motor, 21 stud, on the block surface near the front of the motor where the oil pan bolts is stamped X 238, does this have any special meaning??????thanks

At this point the answer is no. It is a factory or rebuilder artifact that no longer has meaning.
