Has anyone tried Skip Haney's center driveshaft bearing kit and if so, what kind of results did you get. Was it worth the extra money compared to a stock replacement bearing.

the reason Skip came up with the replacement is the original bearing can not be located. When one is for sale the price is very high. the bearing is needed to prevent the drive shaft from whipping. A bad bearing will cause vibration.

Often the driveshaft center bearing moves away from position because it is held in place by the grease fitting, which engages a groove in the bearing sh*ll. If the fitting is removed or damaged, the bearing can move down the shaft and cause vibration or worse, often showing up as a knocking noise. Replacing the bearing requires making up a tool from threaded stock then, using a properly sized bushing driver disc, pulling the old bearing and pushing the new one into place. It is a big job, which is likely why replacements are scarce, and the bearing is not often replaced.
