Hi ford nuts. Can any one tell me how much torque I need on the tie rod end bolts. Ive gone to 50ft/lb but want to check if its enough.

there is no torque value for most of the cars hardware. Make sure it is tight and install the cotter pin. 50# seems a bit high. I seem to remember some of the modern vehicles at 35#

The tie rod ends have tapers, and will seat in a clean bore with little effort. Tighten the nuts securely, then turn until you can get the cotter pin in place. The torque wrench was seldom used "back then". At the Ford dealer where I worked, we didn't even use them on the head nuts! The rods and mains were a different story, of course, but most of the rest was by "feel" developed thru experience.

Thanks for that, I realise the torque wrench is a modern invention, just wanted to make sure I m not having anything come loose after my first few miles. Genrally I have done the nuts up by feel except the Head nuts at 35lb - 40lb.
Launch date is still a few months away!
