Marty, Long, long, long, long time ago I purchased a 1937 Ford front fender from a yard in Colorado that I was at. I tried to get it tied onto the car roof, but it just didn't work. The yard said they ship fenders all the time, so I believed them. They said they used refrigerator and stove boxes for the big items. Well, a week after I got home, I got a call from a trucking company to come pay the COD and pick up my fender. It was in a refrigerator box cut down to size and not crushed or shreaded. And because it was years ago, the COD charge was just about what I paid for the fender. Now, please understand what the first sentence says--- long long long...... I mention that again as shipping now is as much as you can get in the trailer (and stay within weight restrictions). I would still suggest cardboard, and you can double it if it makes you feel better --- but, once it leaves your sight.............you hope that you picked the right carrier to ship with.

Hey Marty-- You might check out The UPS Store and/or The FedEx Store. Make some phone calls 1st and tell them what you have, and they can give you tips and estimated final costs. I agree with Bruce - lots of cardboard and bubble wrap. Expensive? Maybe. Probably. If you tried to do all this yourself, the big box with the fenders in it may arrive looking like a Smashburger, and you would have to deal with a very upset customer. Good luck. Tom

I shipped a pair of rear fenders through a UPS Store just last year. While I have the means to package them myself, I felt some additional confidence when they packed them, and they shipped them. IF they got damaged in transit, it would have been impossible to blame me. If any of you had ever filed a claim with UPS, you know it is ALWAYS your fault. It wasn't cheap but again, in my opinion, well worth it. About $300 all in from WI. to CA. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

My two cents... Get a pallet and build a wooden box on it out of thin osb. Take it to a freight depot and they will forklift it onto a truck. The reciever will need to pick it up from the depot at the destination. Shipped several pinball machines like this with no issues. Unless they put the forklift through the box it can't be damaged. Last one I did was $200 CDN.
