Should be stamped into the small 45 degree brace at the front of the frame on the passenger side. There might also be a cowl code stamped into the firewall above the steering column. This message was edited by deluxe40 on 8-19-10 @ 7:27 PM

And the dataplate -- depending on where the vehicle was assembled --- may determine where it was placed. My 1949 Ford has it riveted to the firewall behind the hood hinge on the passenger's side.
