Topic: 1935 Handbrake seal, where does it go

MOXIE    -- 08-18-2010 @ 6:08 PM
On the 1935/36 cars, there is a rubber seal and an escutcheon plate that fits on the emergency brake handle. How do these two items fit. Does the seal go under the transmission cover or on top. And where does the escutcheon plate go. On top of the seal, under it or? I have the 35/36 Ford book but it does not fo into any detail.

The seal and the boot go under the transmission cover. Seal goes down first and the boot on top of the seal and then the trans. cover.

I have the same question regarding the small oval metal plate the rubber seal and the trans cover. If the small metal plate goes down first over the handle. Does the semicircle cut out go fordward? Does the center hole stamping flange go down?

I have the oval piece but do not know how it goes so I will keep reading this topic and hope for results or knowledge about same.

If the seal goes first and the small plate on top of it, how does it seal the hole in the transmission cover. I would think the small plate would go first and than the seal, right.

The escutcheon goes on first with the tabs down so as to rock on the pivot point bolt. The seal goes on next followed by the transmission cover.
