My '47 engine block and heads are painted the standard Blue color. However upon removing the grease build-up on the oil pan I see that is a red color. Was that switched-out ? It did get an 80 lb oil pump installed by a previous owner.

We would need more information than it was red at one time in the past to identify just what you have there. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

The existing oil pan is red and it appears to be its original color, not a repaint. When I purchased the car in 2013 the speedometer said 33,000 miles, although no one knows if that is true. I can not tell if the engine was rebuilt at one time. Outward changes: A prior owner installed a Pentronic's ignition but I had so much trouble with their modules burning out that I converted to a point's distributor. Compression is good, doesn't use oil between changes and it runs fine.
