Topic: Installing a 12 V starter

I'm converting my 36 coupe to 12 volts. I had purchased a new starter and am now ready to install it except they included a little piece of paper that the modern drive on the new starters are larger and stronger than original on 8BA 48-53 motors. They also included a hand drawn picture showing to "grind here". I cant make out where this is exactly. Any suggestions?

The new Bendix might fit without grinding or not. But the easiest thing to is ditch the new Bendix and use an original style one. That is what I have on the 12 volt starter in my 8ba and it works fine. Prior to that I had a 6 volt starter that I ran on 12 volts with no Bendix issues. Van Pelts sell a USA made original style Bendix which will eliminate any need to grind. JMO.

After a bit of grinding, the starter slipped right in.
