What is the correct way to insert the worm gear and shaft back into the sterring box and sector gear so there is proper alignment with all these componets off the chassis? Thanks for any instructions. Bruce

suggest you follow the directions in the ford service manual. First install the shaft and worm with new bearings and races. shim the top so there is zero end play and no preload. Then install the sector into the sector housing with new bearings installed, and a new modern seal in the bottom to prevent leaking. with the sector end play screw removed install the sector housing and new sector into the steering box with the worm and shaft with a new cork gasket set the new gasket place using RTV silicone sealer assemble when the sealer is hard before assembly wipe a small amount of grease on the face of the new cork gasket and the mating surface of the steering box. assemble the adjusting screw for sector end play and adj so there is zero play and no preload. Then do the adjustment of the sector mesh as outlined in the service bulletins. before assembly of the steering box end plate and tube for horn rod, silver solder the tube to the end plate on the inside of the plate, this will prevent leaking in this area. Hope this covers it. before assembly make sure all mating surfaces are clean and flat, remove all imperfections. Good luck
