recently bought this 48 ford came with an 8ba and 3 speed floor shift im going to put a 59ab in and would like to find out if the trans will bolt up .. the only #s i can see look like a vin . *18-5541792* on the tower 817 ?9,8 or 3 case was green shift tower was red thanks for any help/replies

If that tranny is a floor shift, it might have come out of a pickup because that serial number coincides with 1940. Either way, the case will certainly bolt up to the 59 series engine. No telling what is in the case till you open it up though. With the tower off also check for the part number on the shifting fork. 91A will tell you it has a 1939 or later synchromesh. Alan
