Topic: Anti chatter braked drum springs

  I'm trying to locate anti-chatter brake drum springs 39 inches long. They go onto the outside of the brake drum to quite the brake noise. Anyone know where I might get this item? I need 4 for all the hubs.

  You do not NEED anti-chatter springs. What you NEED is figure out why you are getting chattering.
Applying springs doesn't make the problem go away, it simply masks the problem.
Masking brake problems sounds pretty stup.. to me but I digress.
Chattering comes from vibration. Vibration in a drum can come from a number of things.
Here's a few you might want to check if you are interested in fixing the issue.
* Poor shoe to drum contact and / or adjustment.
* Bearings worn or improperly installed.
* Drums too thin.
* Brake return springs weak.
* Brake shoe hold down clips absent or bent.
Shoe linings too hard.

  May also consider using molded brake lining instead of wolven.
