Topic: 1937 Phaeton/Convertible top bow/fabric problems

  Hi Guys:
I need some guidance on how to do some repairs on my 37 Phaeton top. I think the configuration of my convertible top bows and top irons may also be common to the 4 door sedan convertible. My problem is that my #2 metal bow seems to be detached from the two strips of fabric that run front to rear between the top fabric and the bows. I think the reason this has happened is because the #2 metal bow is supposed to rotate freely with shoulder bolts that attach it to the top irons...someone who owned this car before me just used plain bolts that dont allow the #2 metal bow to pivot...so the fabric strips have torn loose. I have recently found what I believe to be the correct shoulder screws. See attached photo which is looking forward on the passenger side of the car...the blue arrow shows the #2 metal bow and the red arrow shows the fabric strip in question. The #2 bow has a million little holes drilled into both ends where the fabric strips once attached which seems to indicate a previous owner drilled the bow repeatedly to attach the fabric strips each time they tore loose. So here are my questions:
1) what are these fabric strips called?
2) where can I buy these fabric strips?
3) how are the fabric strips supposed to be attached to the #2 bow?
4) how many fasteners are supposed to be used for each fabric strip at #2 bow?
5) what are the fasteners supposed to be for the fabric strip attachment at #2 bow?

Any help would be sincerely appreciated as I am trying to get this car correct.
