Topic: REPOP STARTER BUTTONS

AN OLD POST SUGGESTED SOLDERING A GOUND WIRE TO THE REPOP STARTER BUTTONS TO IMPROVE THE GOUNDING. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE OF HOW THEY DID THAT. THERE ARE FEWER AND FEWER NOS
STARTER BUTTONS AROUND, AND IT APPEARS THAT REPOPS ARE THE ONLY OPTION. THE WINGS/ TANGS DO NOT
SNAPIN WITH ENOUGH TENSION TO MAKE A GOOD GROUNMD.

I've bought a couple of NOS ones off Ebay in the last year or so. They show up with some frequency. Usually $40 and up.

It was probably an old post of mine that advised soldering a ground wire to the button body.

I don't have a photo but can describe the process.
I solder the wire low on the body quite near the end. That way, I am able to easily push the assembly in place through the instrument panel.
The "loose" end of the wire gets hidden and is typically routed to the body near the end of the instrument panel.
This additional ground makes a huge difference in button performance.

The reproduction buttons are total cr*p and even with the wore, will perform poorly at best.
I would strongly advice that you don't waste your money nor time messing with a repop.
While you can bend the tangs out a bit to provide a better ground, the repop buttons will remain cr*p. Simply stated, they are manufactured very poorly.
