hi fellow Early FORD V8 Members

just wanted to let members know about the new motor mounts, I ordered to fit 37 51 FORD trucks and 37 41 FORD cars,
I did the trans motor mounts,
I just installed the motor mounts bought from DC and found out the bolts are too short
why is this,?
you would think by this time they would be the correct length, for close to $50.00 for only 2
NO QUALITY CONTROL it seems
I used the old BOLTS to get the job done, they worked with no problems.,
this is a old time parts dealer should be supplying correct parts, comparing the new to old originals might help
be carefull , ask length before buying,

I replaced mine and had same problem. I saw in a recent catalog - don't remember supplier, extra long bolts being sold.

I saw longer engine mount bolts listed by Bob Drake, so they would also be available from your favorite BD vendor.

Maybe, just maybe, you ordered the wrong motor mount insulators. If you wanted them for a '37 and ordered the '32-'36 versions, you got the shorter bolts which are correct for those model years. The longer bolts are used starting with the '37s.

Drake's kits for '37 - '40 have incorrect (short) bolts.
Of course, when I'd called them years ago about this issue "we'd never heard of this before" was the standard and not unexpected reply.
Years ago, I had a number of the correct bolts plated knowing I'd need them for future restorations.

  Mike,

Oh. Thanks for the clarification. I assumed incorrectly, likely because I only use original bolts. Anybody want a bag of Bob's short bolts? You can't beat his insulators, however.

C&G offers some longer motor mount bolts under P.N. B-6047-B. These are just barely long enough to work.

I do agree with David that Drake's insulators are the best out there.
