Interesting. Let me take a humorous guess........... Both Henry and Edsel had turntables in their garages and saw no need for the 5th wheel. Besides, Ford was building passenger vehicles for the common man, and that certainly looks like a well-to-do vehicle and accessory item.

I don't think that would work well for us 'big guys'... the drivers side rear tire would get dragged off the rim without some 'counterbalance'...! -Bear
