I just received a new after market starter from Mac's as shown on page 133, PN 18-11002-N6. It is similar but different from the original Ford starter I removed. The pinyon gear is narrower and there is less travel (movement) available for the gear to move back and forth. I am wondering if anyone has successfully installed this starter on an EFV8. If anyone has knowledge or an opinion on this after market starter I would be grateful to hear about it--before I attempt installation.

My best advice: Return it for refund. There are plenty of original Ford starters available, better by far than any aftermarket starters. Alan
