  I have an opinion.
Installed a set of Ted's on a 34 coupe that I'd properly restored the authentic brakes just prior. Even with properly restored OEM brakes, the difference with Td's installed was quite notable and quite worth the effort to install.

I've had a set of Flathead Ted's for the past 5 or so years. The work as good as juice drum brakes as long as the rest of the linkage is up to snuff

I'm considering installing Ted's floaters in my 36 3W. Would this be a better solution than hydraulics?

The floaters/energizers would most likely be a lot cheaper and a lot less work than the hydraulic change.

You can buy oversized pins for the clevis that will take the slop out All you need to do is drill the clevis to fit the new pins.
