Topic: 1937 Ford trunk liner material

  Hi Guys:
Does anyone have a lead on that "embossed Morocco grain black paper" liner for the trunk floor and shelf for 1937 models? I have no idea what this stuff looks like but The 1937 Ford Book says it has a texture that matches the cardboard side panels of the trunk. Someone carpeted the side panels of my trunk and I have not removed the carpeting yet so I dont know if they are the originals with the correct texture. Could someone photo their original trunk side panel grain so I could get a clue what this "embossed Morocco grain" is supposed to look like?
My car is a 37 Phaeton (model 78-750).

  Hi Guys:
It has been a few months now and I dont have a complete definition of the luggage compartment paper liner. The Benson Ford Research Center does not have a record of this trunk liner...no part number or description. From my internet research, a "morocco grain" was a embossed pattern to simulate leather. After peeling the carpeting away from my trunk waterproof panels, I see a fine embossed grain, so they must be the original panels and the embossment is the "morocco" grain pattern since the engineering drawings I have for the panels says they should be embossed with black morocco grain. I have no idea what the thickness of the paper liner should be other than The 37 Ford Book describing it as "thin". You can go to the internet and find a lot of suppliers of vinyl embossed faux leather and there are a million embossed patterns available. Very few companies will supply a paper product that is embossed without a special order. So I think the path of least resistance is to buy a off the shelf embossed vinyl product. They are available in various thicknesses and the thinnest I have come across is .025". Attached is a couple of photos of a luggage compartment liner in a very original 37 Fordor Touring Deluxe and you can see the embossed pattern...I believe this is the original "black Morocco grain paper" but I am not 100% positive. Anyway, I am going to use a vinyl product I purchased from Michaels craft store that is approx. .032" thick for my luggage compartment liner. Here is a link to it: https://www.michaels.com/product/richloom-caribou-black-vinyl-fabric-10688936
The embossed grain appearance is not exactly like the photos or my panel embossments but it is very close. I have received samples of faux leather vinyl type products that a reputable restorer (Danny Driskell) has used for trunk liners of 40s Fords and the product I am going to use is very close to what he has used as far as grain pattern and thickness. See photo where he compares a liner he has used compared to the liner in the 37 Fordor Touring car.
