My current intake manifold has a plate under the carb with a port that has a tee fitting going to the distributor vacuum brake and the windshield wiper. I have another manifold that has a port in the manifold itself under the carb mounting flange. It has a banjo fitting with a copper tube that goes to the distributor and the male fitting going through the banjo has a push on tube that must connect to the wipers. My first thought was this must be a check valve, but I can look through it and blow air in both directions I'm sure it's in the "Green Book" but I haven't found it. Anyone have any info?

I don't believe Ford ever utilized a plate to supply vacuum, at least not through 1948. The manifold you have with the vacuum port directly below the carburetor mounting flange is 1942 - 1948. Both the line for the distributor vacuum ("banjo") as well as the nipple for the wipers were connected here as depicted in your photo. I believe the part that you had initially thought to be a check valve is termed a "silencer". Mike "Kube" Kubarth
