Pulling the distributor on my 46 for shipment to Skip Haney. Unable to find older thread discussing how to reinstall correctly. Can anyone help me with that? Thanks.

Yes, the keyway on the cam and the tang on the distributor are offset slightly from center so they only align one way. Make sure you can confirm this offset on both parts and install accordingly. Do not attempt to force things together.

I saw in your other post that your engine is an 8BA and not a 1946 59A. What I said earlier is for the 59A and earlier engines. Installing the distributor in the 8BA is more of a challenge, set engine to #1 cylinder TDC and then install the distributor with rotor pointing to #1 on the cap and drop it in.

CORRECTION Engine is a 49, not a 46. Don't know how much that changes if anything.

Does your distributor mount vertically from the top or horizontally on the front of the engine? TIM CARLIG
