What 6 volt coil tests can I run while it is still installed with the stock engine in my 46.

Believe I should be getting right at 6,2 volts at the coil, but am getting 4 volts. Does that indicate high resistance at some point leading to the coil?

Four volts sounds about right. If you have a constant 6v at the coil, it will burn out soon enough.

If you have a correct Ford type of coil it should have a ballast resister on top op the coil. The engine starts on 6v, the resister heats up and reduces the run voltage to 4v.
The 6v systems have high resistance, therefore the lower run voltage is very important.
