Does anyone know how to decode a VIN of a car manufactured in Ontario Canada?
VIN 232LB3172
1933 Ford 5W Coupe
I am trying to determine the birthplace of this car.

Jake, I believe you can run your VIN through the Benson Ford Research Center at the Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan and find the birthplace of your car. Unfortunately, last time I checked, not too long ago, they were still not reopened for in-person research, but you may be able to pay them to provide you the information on your VIN.

Not sure what you are looking at. Your Vin number is really an engine serial number. It was stamped on the engine at the Rouge engine plant. Really the top of the transmission housing. The engine was then sent to one of Ford's car assembly plants. There when it was installed in a frame the number was stamped in the left frame rail in two places. One between the cowl and the radiator which is visible. The other is under the body. The serial number should be all numbers-no letters. All it tells you is when the engine was built. It will not tell you in which assembly plant your car was built or any of the other things a modern vin will tell you..

Presumably you have seen the helpful reply to your same question on fordbarn.com.
