Topic: carb identification

I've got a carb marked with Ford script and EAB. I have always assumed it was a 94. True? Is it interchangable with the 94-59 or 94 8BA? What can this carb be paired with on a Edelbrock "super" 2X2 manifold?

Bill: I believe the EAB carb was used on the 8BA and 8RT engines beginning in 1949. Those engines are still the 239 CID flatheads, but the carb is somewhat different as it has a passage for the vacuum advance distributor that has no weights. Other than that, there is little difference from the earlier type in size or action. It is always best to use matching carbs, in any case. Whether you use the later type depends on the ignition you choose.
