Topic: 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible

  Good Morning,

I am the new proud owner of a 1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible. The restoration is about 20+ years old and she needs a little TLC. I am attempting to locate an original front bumper grill guard AND the front license plate bracket with chrome piece (see attached photo). I have been told that the 1940 Ford bumper guard won't fit the 1941. Also, on my wish list are the four chrome bumper wing tips. If anyone can assist me on this search I would be very appreciative.

Respectfully,

Lou Formby

  Tom,

Here she is, with all her flaws... The 20+ year restoration is still nice but beginning to show... A lot of modifications to interior dash knobs (some chrome/some original type tan). None of the instruments work but I figure it's a wiring issue. The interior is leather but not OEM to my standards...HaHaHa! Also, carpet throughout the inside and trunk instead of the black rubber floor mat (front interior and trunk)...

Hopefully I can get her back to OEM

That is a beauty, you didn't show us the flaws. It is good to hear you plan to take it back to original where possible.

Looks great to me, You should have a lot of fun with it while bringing it up to your standards.

Here are a couple of links to help you with your gauges.

To show how the wiring is routed: http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_images/FH_electrical-pics/Flathead_Electrical_wirediagram1941car.jpg

To shoiw how the electrons flow: http://vanpeltsales.com/FH_web/FH_images/FH_electrical-pics/Flathead_Electrical_wiring1941car.jpg

The Shop manual that I have is no longer being reproduced. It was originally printed by Ford of Canada. Detroit Iron has a reprint of the Second Edition of the manual and 98it should be better than my edition. Here is a link to the manual for sale: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Detroit-Iron-OEM-1939-1948-Ford-Mercury-Shop-Manual-9781791405847/1825067223?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=1462

If you need any help, post your question here.

The gauges and sending units are King Seeley units. The reproduction sending units do not work very well and if you need a sending unit look for a good used one or have yours repaired.

I see no flaws, just one of my favorite Fords that I would love to have. Hope she treats you well, because she is a good looking 41!
