  I also have a 1948 Ford 2dr sedan with the 239 , my question is, was their some sort of little filter on the original fuel tank at the outlet to the fuel line. Also what are the chances of getting that fitting off. Johna

  No filter from the factory other than the glass bowl on the fuel pump.
Removing the line from the tank is typically not an issue. Use patience and a flare nut wrench.
Once it breaks free, go back and forth a little. Then, a little more "forth" and then back again. Repeat...
