I have a 1957 Mercury Montclair with a 312 and a Merc-O-Matic transmission. Ford called for Type A transmission fluid. I think they went to Type F in the early 60s. Does anyone know which currently-made transmission fluid would be best for this car? thanks

you might be able to find out if you call a vintage AUTO Trans rebuilder and see what they use, one like FATSCO which is FISHER AUTO TRANS SERVICE CO, in NEW JERSEY, or KANTER AUTO PARTS in BOOTON NJ also, hope this helps 37 RAGTOPMAN KEEP ON TRUCKIN,,,!!!
