I have a 1937 Deluxe coupe that originally had the roof mounted antenna. The dimensions for locating the antenna on the 1937 closed cars is published in the club's 1937 restoration guide. The instructions state that the center of the antenna hole is located 2 3/4" above the edge of the body on the body centerline. Mark with a center punch and drill a 1/8" hole, then drill out the hole with a 1 1/4" hole saw.

Note, these instructions are for a 1937 closed car. I do not know if they would apply to a 1938 car also. I recommend checking the 1938/39 restoration manual for your particular model.

zeke3 , Thanks for your reply. I have a " The38-39 Ford Book " from Early Ford V8 Club but can not find any info on the antenna mount hole position.
Is this the same book that your 37 reference found ? Thanks

The repro antennae for 1940 Fords include a metal template and instructions for making the hole.

I do not know if this is at all applicable with a 1938 Deluxe.

As I recall all the repo antennas came from Dennis Carpenter. You might call them and see if they can send you a copy of the template used to install their antenna.

Yes, the Early Ford V8 club 1937 book has the antenna installation information in one of the appendices.

I have looked through my 38-39 book and I can't find any measurements with the installation info. Had no reply from Carpenters , so I guess that's a " No". Could somebody measure their 38 closed car antenna position please? The distance from the windshield recess to the antenna hole center and that the hole is centered with the windshield center piece, would be a great help. Thanks

Check with C and G Parts at 760-740-2400 to see if they might have a diagram. Also I think the 37 diagram will work for your car. I had both a 37 club coupe and a 38 club coupe and the body was the same on both cars. Only difference was the front end sheetmetal of the two cars.
