Topic: 1938 Ford spark plugs

Anyone know if a motocraft SP430 Plug will fit a 38 Ford delux v8. I need a plug with a black base per judging standards. Thanks

  Methinks your logic is faulty.

  Terry,

For judging purposes, the black base is only part of the requirement. Also important is the porcelain design, that is the ribs, the brass terminal, and the proper Champion script. It is also important to know that the spark plugs changed in June 1938 from Champion 7 to Champion H-10 when the cylinder heads were changed.

If you want to restore your car to how it was built, you need "The 1938-1939 Ford Book" available in the Online Store on this site.

  Terry,

You asked if the Motorcraft would fit. I don't know if it does or does not. I can say for certain it will not be accepted for judging.

The Champions are out there. Very difficult to find and very expensive.
