I know there's been a lot of discussion on this topic, but I have a couple of questions. I'm adding a partial remote oil filter to my 59ab engine. I want to run a line from the orifice on the back of the block to a remote oil filter and the outlet line down to my dip stick mount which already has a 3/8 npt hole drilled in it. Will this work ok? Will I need an oil restrictor going into the oil filter? This is mild 59ab used for just causal driving.

The routing you are planning is proper. You MUST have a restrictor, or you WILL lose oil pressure. The factory specification was .060" - .063". If you can't find a restrictor fitting, it's easy enough to solder your existing fitting and drill to the proper diameter. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Thanks for the response. Not finding a restrictor 060" - 063", there are 065" restrictors apparently for mustangs. would 065" be too big? Plan on running an AN line, what size would be apporiate 2AN or a 3AN?

Thanks again for the response. FYI AN 4 is 1/4" OD, so that probably AN 5 or 6 would work fine.

It should work to run a line from the orifice on the back of the block to a remote oil filter and the outlet line down to your dipstick mount if the correct fittings and hose are used. An oil restrictor may not be necessary, but it depends on the specific design of the remote oil filter you are using. It has not been established, but assuming that the desired filter setup is a bypass system as original, it would need the restrictor on the inlet side of the filter. Alan
